Butterfly Studio
New York City
Located in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, this unique salon design reflects the owner’s, Kattia Solano, Costa Rican heritage and her passion for preserving and recreating a natural living habitat.
Accented in deep orange hues – reminiscent of the monarch butterfly – the Studio’s raw loft space was transformed by three brightly colored cylindrical changing cabanas, a sculptural check-in desk of wenge wood and a line of stainless-steel stylist stations.
The adjacent waiting area resides on an elevated platform containing a recessed koi pond with three floating glass cylinders that burst with thickets of tropical flowers and palm fronds.
The salon design contains unique material vocabulary which captures Katia’s heritage and spirit, while surrounding clients in a natural living habitat.
