Airem is the Korean word for beauty and Dr. Eunice Park challenged us to create a “modern beauty sanctuary” capturing the essence of Airem. The design is a careful balance between the clinical aspects of her practice and the immersive guest experience she desired for her clients.
We designed a Façade, as an expansive glass window-box addressing the busy roadway frontage. We clad the building in stark white Calacutta stone, which was then softened with vertical wenge wood slats that add both scale and texture. The all-white interior showcases Dr. Parks skincare line, along with a sculptural white oak front desk and beauty bar.
Beyond that are a series of treatment rooms and an operating room, which contrasts with a cocooning wood tearoom, used as a gathering space for guests to recharge and relax. With a nod to sustainability and easy maintenance, we wanted Dr. Park’s building to serve her; she should not be serving the building!
